Orlando Man Charged in Bankruptcy Fraud Case

Orlando, Florida - United States Attorney Paul I. Perez today announced the return of an indictment of Enid J. Alameda, 34 year old resident of Winter Springs, Florida, charging Alameda with bankruptcy fraud. The maximum penalties Alameda faces if convicted on all counts are five years of imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

According to the indictment, Alameda filed a bankruptcy petition which had a false social security number and forged signatures, and which failed to list bankruptcy petitions which she had filed over the previous six years. The case was investigated by the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bruce Hinshelwood.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless,proven guilty.
